Director’s Room is a voice-first AI filmmaking system where directors talk naturally with AI characters to develop films collaboratively. Instead of manually prompt engineering every shot, filmmakers can brainstorm scenes conversationally, refine emotional beats, develop characters, generate storyboards, create cinematic clips, compose music, and stitch together final edits all through dialogue. One of the key ideas behind the project is that AI should behave less like a passive tool and more like a creative collaborator. During conversations, the AI actively pushes back, asks clarifying questions, sharpens moments, and helps directors refine their vision before generation begins. We built the project using ElevenLabs for audio and voiceover to drive conversational experience. Cursor was heavily used throughout development to rapidly prototype orchestration flows, agent behaviors, generation pipelines, and UI interactions. The goal of Director’s Room is to explore a future where filmmaking feels less like grunt work and more like directing with a creative partner.
